UHAA Artist Profile
Artist John Chandler finds art has taught him how to communicate. He communicates by meaningful art. His work addresses themes such as emotions, passions for beauty and concerns for the environment. His work may be as simple as peace signs made of clay or peace bricks made of cement, left for others, to help remind us of the power of a word. Over the years, he has explored multiple tools for his communication from pencil to brush, to wood and clay. For Chandler, the joy of experimenting with different media helps to keep his art and his communications clean and fresh.
Chandler now creates art to help others understand themselves. While helping to balance the Chakras (energy centers) of others, images often come to him in a meditative state. He creates art of these images as guides for understanding and learning. These symbols may be used later by the individual for continued growth and understanding about themselves. As a member of Spanish Village Art Center in Watercolor and Pastel, he has an ongoing connection with other artists and the public. Chandler has lived in University Heights for 18 years with his wife Kirsten. His roots in this community help him feel comfortable to create art that moves him in a spiritual direction. Chandler’s works have been exhibited in galleries throughout San Diego County as well as in Texas and New York. His website can be viewed at www.studio1227.com or contact him if you are interested in seeing wood or clay works not on the site. John Chandler 619.299.1870
